A public online vote will select the winning design for the Stratford site, to reflect the “unique qualities of a British domestic garden “. Competitors come from around the UK, with the youngest entrant aged 7 years old.
The design by Rachel Read from Colchester in Essex includes a spiral timeline that features plaques naming each British Olympic gold medallist since 1908.
The winning entry will fill a quarter acre area of the park and will remain in place after 2012 games have been completed.
